Diary of a flying pig: Danish Tour 10/25

A delicious day in Denmark!
This morning we met up with Alan and headed off to Aasen- the theatre/retreat center/home owned and operated by Lars & Birthe Rosenfeldt-Olsen (parents of the infamous Helga Rosenfeldt-Olsen), their cat Charlie, and their dog Julius. Aasen is located north of Aalborg, in the Danish countryside. It's a spectacular center, run by spectacular people. Complete with dormitories, a group kitchen, studio space, a small theatre, classic Scandinavian Architecture, gorgeous scenery, and even a viking stone meeting circle, it's no wonder Joan and Ronlin are always so eager to teach come out. LArs gave us a tour of the premises, and then we had traditional and delicious Danish meal, complete with home-made soup, liver pate, baked beets, dessert cheese, roast beef, and a wonderful elderflower wine, all made by Lars' and Birthe. After that, Lars showed us a tape of this HUGE show he did this past summer with a community much like BLue Lake- one that used to have a lake, but then its source was diverted, and it dried up. However, unlike Blue Lake, a foundation had gotten together to re-divert the water and fill the lake in again, and at the same time, donate tens of thousands of dollars to put together a show involving the community. Amazing. Afterwards, we went for a walk, and then had to head back to Aalborg...
...In time for yet another great meal, this one cooked by Ebba! Homemade bread and soup, which were amazing, but the true crown of the meal was the dessert- a simple and delicious "apple cake" which basically consisted of shredded apples, topped with crushed cookies, topped with real whipped cream- quite possibly the most delicious dish I've tasted yet. Engorged with the day's victuals, we rolled through or warm ups and calls, and had a great show. The audience was receptive and welcome, and it was a good ending to yet another great day.
LESSONS FOR THE DAY
Why bother pulling weeds along the side of the road, when you can simply hire someone with a blowtorch to burn it all away?
If the crotch of your pants is slightly ripped, but you spend most of your time behind a string bass, fixing it becomes an option, rather than a requirement.
Lars LOVES soup, even more than he LOVES apple cake.
Waddling home with a full stomach-
