Diary of a flying pig: Danish Tour 11/8

Odsherred Ho!
We left Aalborg at around 10:30am tin the morning to catch the 1pm ferry from Ã…rhus- a huge catamaran capable of taking cars, moving vans, and tour buses. Rainy weather didn't allow for any sort of view, so we passed the hour onboard updating the script, eating lunch, and relaxing before our warp-speed load-in (2:30pm arrival, 7:30 show). Odsherred Theatre is on the gorgeous grounds of an old mental hospital- tree lined streets, private dormitories, and picturesque buildings. The stage was accessed via a door at ground level, and a crew of four guys fomr the local "high school"- a specialized school in music and production- helped us load in. Within 2.5 hours, the entire set was in! A reminder, it took us FIFTEEN HOURS in NYC- definitely a welcome change in set engineering! A delicious dinner served by the facility cook, a brief look at minor staging changes, and we did the show for an audience of around 150. Favorite audience member: a little old lady that asked Andrew before the show "Is there loud music in this show?" To which Andrew answered "Yes" and she replied "Do you have earplugs?" And then, at intermission, the same woman came up and tersely exclaimed "It's all in English!" Ah well, you can't please them all. After the show, strike was fast and furious, taking a total of 1.5 hours! We all convened on the lobby post-strike for beers, conversation, and camaraderie, to the delightful sounds of Mister Oliver Steck at the piano... Then it was off to bed for the tech crew, as we had an 8:30am ferry the next morning.
